Pedagogy & publications
Henri Tournier is part of the musicians who consider artistic and pedagogic activities as a whole, the artistic part getting its inspiration and energy in the teaching and knowledge sharing.
From 1983-2005 Henri Tournier taught Western classical flute and repertoire at the Municipal Conservatoire of Paris (XIVth district), and from 1989-1991 at the National Conservatoire of Reunion Island where he organized cultural exchanges with India and Mauritius.
He is working since 1995 as guest teacher at Rotterdam-Codarts conservatoire, assistant of Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia for the bansuri class up to 2018, where he also teach improvisation, and Indian theory, to the Bachelor and Master students.
Member of the French Society of Ethnomusicology, he holds the French Teacher Certification for Traditional Music (2001), participated world symposiums like :

He is teaching « Indian Music and Modal Improvisation » to teachers and a larger public in the Framework of master-classes, residences and worshops, like the Master-class Inde-Philharmonie de Paris, January 21st & February 1st 2015 - Pdt Hariprasad Chaurasia Indian Music Maestro guest on February 1st linked to the Raga night concerts.
He as been appointed since September 2016 as teacher of Indian Classical Music at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris CNSMDP.
He is the author of “Hariprasad Chaurasia and the Art of Improvisation” a discovery step by step of the North Indian Music published in October 2010 in both French and English editions (200p book, 2CDs, painting Sujata Bajaj, edition Accords-croisés-Codarts, distribution Harmonia mundi)
